State Fair, 2008

Sorry about the awful picture. Mr. Rocket can't take a picture to save his life. This is me and Moonunit at the Fair! It was a completely random bump in - and if you know anything about the MN State Fair, you KNOW it is HUGE.

Time for my yearly food updates. I didn't have a heck of a lot of time to eat nearly enough on Friday, but I'll be going back to spend the entire day feeding my face!

Beef/Wild Rice Corndog: I tried this 2 years ago, but thought I'd give it another chance. Still rather dull, and I'd rather eat a regular corn dog. Too chewy.

Fresh Corn: Sweet. Buttery. Didn't need salt. Corn perfection!

Dole Whip in Raspberry: Don't know what kind of creamy cold goodness this was, but it was lovely!

Chocolate Covered Bacon (Famous Dave's): Oh. My. Gawd. Ate 2 pieces, and that was all I could stomach. It was wonderful, but after all the above food, I was a little stuffed. Must remember to share food next time, so I can taste a little of everything that I can!

Also went to see Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings. Amazing. One of the best shows I've seen all year!

Win a Mug!

How cute is that?

Since I'm a computer dummy, I can't figure out how to work the link to the other amazing one which is "Will work for tea"! But if you look at Birdie Says, an amazing website of stuff so cute you could EAT it, you'll get the gist of the contest. The deadline is August 29th, so start stepping! If I ever get some extra cash, I'm so throwing it her way!

BBQ!

Had the best time yesterday - went to my friend/boss's house on Lake Minnetonka for a BBQ! After some amazing food (gotta love the cucumber/onion/tomato salad!), Khos took us out for a boat ride. Well, tried to at first. Boat refused to start, but we had a good time joking that even just sitting on the boat was better than nothing (and it was true - us city kids don't get out much).

Two of the girls from work got pretty lit up. It was amusing as all get out. Khos and I sat around and rehashed some good old stories from when I started working for him in 1989. I also told him I wanted a pony (okay, a Mustang, to be clear) for the 20 year anniversary of my work career with him. I'm not holding my breath. I'll probably get a nice dinner out though!

I love this photo of Josh on the boat, with the wind flying through his hair. All in all, it was a wonderful day!

TUT2

It really is easy, Jackie. You really are powerful. I really do love you.
You can have it all. You will live forever. And the best is yet to come.
You're already rich. There's more on the way. It's closer than you think.
There've been no mistakes. You've never been judged. And all things are playing out in your favor.
Moreover, as if all of that wasn't enough, it's totally Friday and you're so, so beautiful.
Boom,

TUT

Some folks, not having lived perhaps as much as you, endured as much, or loved as much, simply cannot see the truth of a situation, disagreement, or relationship as clearly as you. And so, it's wise to keep in mind, Jackie, that it's not their fault.
Can you see this?

Busy Weekend!

Whee! Get tired after a day of shopping? Just jump on your brother's wheelchair and catch a lift!

Saw The Dark Knight too. Hrm. Not impressed. I mean, it was good and all, but after all the hype about it being so scary that Heath Ledger knocked himself off over it...I don't know. I'd kill myself over a part more like in Henry, Portriat of a Serial Killer, than the Joker. That sounds cold, I know, but I don't know the workings of HL's mind either. It was a good movie, true to the Frank Miller graphic novel, but I wasn't walking out of the theater thinking "OMG - greatest movie ever of the season!"

Lexi had her last night bartending at The Saloon - had to get a shot of Mistress Lilli and Ron while I walked (literally) all over him. Great night!

At a standstill with my artwork right now. Have no idea why. Think I kind of ran myself out with the Critter Swap I'm finishing up right now.

AC is Broken!

It's pumping out lukewarm air and smells funny! This makes cleaning the apartment very hard, as I'm too sweaty to do much of anything other than sit in front of the tv or read. Right now I'm reading "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" by Gregory Maguire, author of the aforementioned "Wicked". "Confessions" is the story of Cinderella, once again in PoliSci form. I haven't read it in years (I like to buy certian authors only in hardcover, Maguire is one of them). Once again, a book is taking up a lot of my free time - not that I'm complaining, if only I could get paid to read...!

Well, here is the freshly cleaned craft area! It doesn't look like this anymore, as I have been using it and there are paints and papers and stuff all over it. But it's MINE! And I love love love my $25 Salvation Army desk! The chair was found at a yard sale for about $5 over 10 years ago.
