Fear and Loathing of St. Paddys and Other Stuff...

The Anchor is already getting phone calls about St. Paddys and if we are going to be open during the day. Nope. Business as usual - nothing fancy or out of the ordinary, except maybe some lamb stew. I did splurge on some green socks from Target to wear. My utter fear/disdain of St. Paddys still exists, but at least I get to work with friends. This is the first year in, what? Maybe 15 that I have NOT insisted on the day off to hide under the bed. I've told people that I will work Mother's Day (NOT a walk in the park), Christmas, even New Years Eve, but never St. Paddys, as it just brings out the asshole in people. They start drinking (even if they aren't Irish) around 9 am and keep going until they get thrown out of enough bars. Our blessing (and the only thing not making me refuse to work) is that due to our liquor license you can only have a pint if you eat a meal. AND we don't serve hard liquor - so no Jameson or Powers. I will for sure blog about my adventure that day!

Well, the showcase was brilliant. Unfortunately, my camera decided that it was time for the batteries to die, so I didn't get a single shot. The 4 boys sat around in a circle and each took a turn telling a story about the song they were about to play. Sometimes one of the others would chime in and accompany along with guitar. The meet and greet after was pretty awful, so I hugged Ben and chatted up Adam really quick and we split.

My cousin, Maren, GAVE US A NEW COMPUTER on Monday! Well, new to us, and for heaven's sake, the tower thing still has some protective plastic on it. She and her hub also threw in a printer. This thing is crazy fast. All we had to do is drive up to Sauk Centre to pick it up. Oh, and we took them out for dinner. Buck burger night at one of their favorite places. Apparently, the monitor on this one went blech-y, so they just went out and bought a whole new one. So, while we have this fab fancy-pants new puter, we have a 100 year old monitor. Which strikes me as funny.

Putting off errands. I redecorated the Christmas wreath at work for Valentines Day, and I think with a little spray paint and felt shamrocks, I can make it pretty again for St. Paddys. Then the thing has to go. But I like to repurpose things. I also need printer paper. WHY can't I buy everything in one place? Says the lazy girl...

I finally got my glasses the day after I posted about them not being in yet. Another repurposed item, as I used my old frames - the ones in the little picture on the left. Bifocals are weird. I'm getting a little used to them, but have trouble with stairs, as while trying to watch the stairs that I am going down, I'm looking through the reader part of my glasses. Therefore, I either have to lift my glasses up to look at the stairs, or tuck my chin into my chest to look through the distance part. I'm also tilting my head in new ways to see properly. But it is better than wearing readers. Thinking about looking into those fancy bifocal contacts, but they may make me even crazier. And they are expensive.

Monday is our Front of House meeting for work. The girls are treating us to not only dinner, but either a facial or massage at Aveda. Holy cats! Also thinking sleepover at either the girls house or A's, as libations will be imbibed. I'm sure there will be stories to be posted (or NOT posted) from that afternoon and evening!

Do you have a CVS? I bet they might have the crazy lil shamrocks AND printer paper at the CVS. Check their little dollar-spot like thingy at CVS!

And, sending you "don't have a horrible St. Paddy's Day" vibes!
